The suicide of a young girl involves Maigret in a dark family story. Bernadette Amorelle, head of Campois and Amorelle, asks the inspector to find out why her granddaughter Monita threw herself into the Seine. Bernadette's daughters Aimée and Odette are married to the brothers Charles and Ernest Malik, the dead woman was Aimée's daughter. Maigret discovers that Monita was intended to be the sole heir of the company, after the son of partner Campois also committed suicide. Maigret wonders if the suicides were not cleverly concealed murders... Based on the 61st Maigret novel La colère de Maigret (1963), which first appeared as a serialised novel in the daily newspaper Le Figaro (between 28 June and 22 July 1963). German translation titles were Maigret ist wütend and Maigret gerät in Wut.
